Pacifica Social Justice (PSJ) works to develop and sustain a just and inclusive community. We oppose all forms of injustice, including oppression based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, ability, class, religion and national origin.
We understand that social justice cannot be seen as separate from the struggles for economic justice, peace and the environment, and we are proud to be part of the Pacifica Progressive Alliance. We successfully worked on implementing the Pacifica Sanctuary City Ordinance in 2017, we participate in immigrant rights and defense, and against any registry based on religion or national origin. We work for immigration justice in coalition with the San Mateo County Coalition for Immigrant Rights, ACLU-NP, and Faith in Action. We are building a regional connection with groups working on ending police violence and defunding the police. We work with Pacifica Housing 4 All for rent stabilization, renters’ rights and rights of people living in motor homes. We participate with Pacifica Peace People in their efforts towards demilitarization and ending wars. We have been part of electoral campaigns to support and elect progressive candidates for the Pacifica City Council. We organize and participate in demonstrations and sign waving along Highway 1 to support local and national social justice struggles, campaigns and movements. PSJ supports any universal healthcare plan that provides healthcare for all including plans such as Medicare for All and Healthy California.
We meet every other Sunday evening and close each meeting with a song. We invite anyone who wants to share in this work to join us.
